iolo Celebrates Commitment to the Business Community With Donation To NPower PA’s Technology Volunteer Day
System Mechanic Technology Donation Gives NonProfits Greater PC Performance, Security And Ensures More System Uptime
LOS ANGELES, CA — June 29, 2007— iolo has announced that they have recently donated
over 1,000 copies of their flagship System Mechanic software to the NPower Network
which helps local nonprofit organizations make optimal use of their technology investments.
As a champion of NPower PA's 4th annual Tech Volunteer Day, iolo provided the technology
free of charge as part of the program's "PC Health Check" theme. This year's Tech
Volunteer Program marked the biggest turnout in the history of the philanthropic
organization with over 140 volunteers serving the technology needs of nearly 50
charitable organizations across the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area.
"Nonprofits, understandably, pour all their money into programs, while the technological
infrastructure that supports those programs is often neglected," Anthony Pisapia,
Director of Fundraising and Communications for NPower PA. "They're chartered to
use their available funds to feed and clothe ten children today, even if an investment
in technology could mean that they could feed and clothe one hundred more children
tomorrow. With NPower's help and donations from companies like iolo, now they can
now do both."
"Volunteerism has always been an important part of iolo's corporate culture and
I am proud to be fostering the company's ongoing efforts to better empower technology
in worthy nonprofit community efforts to better our society and business community,"
said iolo technologies CEO Noah Rowles. "NPower PA is well-run and has established
themselves in the community as a respected partner of the nonprofit value chain."
Delivering A "PC Health Check" To Keep NonProfits Running
With this year's efforts centered on the theme of a "PC Health Check," the choice
of System Mechanic software appeared to be an ideal fit for both iolo and NPower
PA. Pisapia says they looked to iolo because "NPower's technicians were familiar
with the software—and let us know it was a good product."
"IT infrastructure is one of the most daunting and ongoing challenges for any organization,"
says Rowles. "PC maintenance represents a significant portion of this. With System
Mechanic, we've worked to eliminate this costly, confusing, and time-consuming burden.
Our goal in donating System Mechanic to the nonprofit sector is to help them spend
less time and money on technology maintenance, and more on their core objectives."
System Mechanic ensures that PCs run efficiently and securely, eliminating system
clutter that can slow performance. It also repairs common Windows security flaws
that make PCs vulnerable to hackers and viruses. In addition, iolo offers customers
unlimited free tech support, a bonus for nonprofits.
Leading the sponsorship of Tech Volunteer Day 2007 were iolo technologies, Computer
Sciences Corporation, and Reed Technology and Information Systems. IT staff volunteers
were provided by Arkema, Bayada Nurses, Brandywine Realty Trust, CAI, Capmark, Commerce
Bank, CSC, Ikon, Lannett Company, Main Line Health, Philadelphia Safe & Sound, Philadelphia
Workforce Development Corporation, Radian, Reed Technology and Information Systems,
Rohm and Haas, SEI, Strategic BCP, Sunoco, Teleflex, The Judge Group, UGI Amerigas,
