Overview of the Email tab

The Advanced Email Configuration window allows you to add or change port settings related to email protection. You can also designate specific email clients to include or exclude from scanning.

Proxy Ports

Proxy ports are the ports used by iolo AntiVirus to intercept email messages. A proxy port is used so that messages can be intercepted before they reach the mail server.

To change a port, click Change. The Specify Port window opens. Enter a different port number and click OK.

iolo AntiVirus listens for messages on the mapped ports; see below.

Mapped Ports

Mapped ports are the ports used to receive and send mail. As a default, email protection listens for incoming email messages on port 110 and for outgoing email messages on port 25.

If your email client is configured to use ports that differ from these standards, add or make changes in the Mapped Ports fields.

Supported Mail Clients

iolo AntiVirus scans email messages received in and sent from the programs listed in the Supported Mail Clients list (shown by .exe name). The most commonly used email programs – including Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, and Mozilla Thunderbird – are already on the list as a default.

The executable name will display in the list and email protection will apply, as long as the client is POP3-compatible.

iolo AntiVirus will scan messages sent or received from a program on this list that is POP3-compatible.
