How can I help prevent hackers and malware from taking down my computer?
Even a high end computer that is superbly optimized can be brought down quickly by malware. While there are many anti-malware products on the market, System Shield®, available only in System Mechanic Pro, is your best choice for the following reasons:
- Triple lab certified protection from malicious threats
- Fast and unobtrusive scans
- Extremely small footprint. Uses minimal resources unlike the “heavy hand” of many anti-malware solutions
- Proactive broad-spectrum heuristics that often combat never-before-seen malware variants days before many other anti-malware solutions get onto it
- Integrated into System Mechanic for seamless compatibility and convenient updates
- A single license helps protect and optimize all your home computers
If you’ve installed System Mechanic Pro you should set up System Shield to ensure your security is being automatically managed.
Here’s how:
- Start System Mechanic Pro and click Automated Tasks.
- Scroll down to Secure and make sure each of the three choices are Enabled.
- Click Internet Security in the blue navigation on the left.
- Click Anti-malware and in the panel that displays on the right, click the Protection tab.
- Enable both Real-time protection and Email protection.

How can I ensure my sensitive data stays deleted forever?
Sensitive files you delete still risk recovery by prying eyes. DriveScrubber®, included in System Mechanic Pro, gives you the twofold ability to delete file traces permanently or securely wipe all data from a drive.
Here’s how:
- Start System Mechanic Pro and click Toolbox » Individual Tools » Ensure Personal Privacy.
- Under DriveScrubber, find Securely Remove Deleted File Traces and click Start.
- If you have more than one local disk or partition, select the drive you want to clean all deleted files from. Note that current files that haven’t been deleted will not be touched. Click Next.
- You can simply click Next, or, if you want to also wipe all the free space on your drive for added security, select the Perform deep clean option.
Note: A deep clean of your system may take hours.
- Click Exit when done
- The files you’ve deleted are now completely wiped from your PC and beyond recovery.
I accidentally deleted an important file. Can I recover it?
Search and Recover™ comprises an array of tools that provide integrated access to data recovery such as lost or deleted files, pictures, email messages and more. You can rescue important data that was accidentally deleted from a hard drive, CD, MP3 player, digital camera or many other digital devices. Note that if a file has been deleted and the Recycle Bin has been emptied—or if you have deleted file traces with DriveScrubber—the deleted file may have been overwritten and cannot be recovered. It is important to recover files as soon after they have been deleted as possible.
Here’s how:
- Start System Mechanic Pro and click Toolbox » Individual Tools » Recover Deleted Data.
- Here you have five choices within Search and Recover, each with easy to follow guidance. After choosing an option, follow the on-screen instructions and use the Help button for further info as needed.
- To resurrect all the recoverable files from an entire disk, drive or folder, click on Recover All Data on a Drive or Disk.
- To recover files of any specific type (documents, spreadsheets, applications, etc.) click on Recover Deleted Files.
- To recover lost pictures or movies, click on Recover Deleted Pictures and Movies.
- To recover music or sound clips from your computer, music player or other digital media, click on Recover Deleted Songs and Sounds.
- To recover important emails, click Recover Deleted Email.
