Supercharge your browsing

In many computers generic Internet settings can hold you back. System Mechanic’s NetBooster®—specifically designed for Windows XP users—can optimize your connection, increase download rates and improve overall Internet stability.

Here’s how:

  1. Start System Mechanic and click Toolbox » Individual Tools » Maximize Performance 
  2. Go to NetBooster and click Start
  3. Select Optimize your Internet and network connection speed and click Next
  4. Select your Internet connection type and click Next 

    Note: If you have a high-speed Internet connection you likely will want to select the first option (not PPPoE). Most major ISPs no longer utilize PPPoE.

  5. Restart your computer after NetBooster finishes optimizing your connections

Take out the hidden trash

Junk File Finder locates and eliminates obsolete files that accumulate over time and can contribute significantly to system slowdown. PC users are wise to run this feature every few weeks.

Here’s how:

  1. Start System Mechanic and click Toolbox » Individual Tools » Clean Up System Clutter 
  2. Go to Junk File Finder and click Start
  3. Select a Cleanup Mode and click Next
  4. Junk File Finder will find and remove your junk files

    Bonus Tip: For additional control, the Custom Cleanup mode allows you to set exclusions and view junk files before deleting them.

A specialized registry solution

An optimized registry is vital to your PC’s overall health. Use Total Registry Revitalizer to thoroughly defragment, compact, optimize and back up your registry.

Here’s how:

  1. Start System Mechanic and click Toolbox » All-in-one Tools » Clean Up System Clutter 
  2. Under Specialized tools find Total Registry Revitalizer and click Start
  3. Select Automatic mode to run all repairs and optimizations using default settings 
  4. Use Custom mode to run only selected steps or to configure settings within steps 
  5. After choosing a mode, click Next
  6. Total Registry Revitalizer will find and repair registry errors

Recover from disaster

With System Troubleshooter you may be able to save an operating system that has become unstable. Use this tool’s PC Repair Wizard to fix many common computer problems. You may also restore either your registry or the Windows OS to an earlier point in time.

Here’s how:

  1. Start System Mechanic and click Toolbox » Individual Tools » Repair Problems 
  2. Scroll down to System Troubleshooter and click Start
  3. Click Start PC Repair Wizard to begin troubleshooting
  4. Choose Perform Quick Analysis to repair the most common system problems
  5. Choose Perform Deep Analysis to delve deeper into your system to root out problems
  6. When the analysis completes, click on the actions listed to view details
  7. Decide and select which actions you wish to take
  8. Click Next to allow the PC Repair Wizard to run the selected repairs

    Note: You may skip the analysis and choose to reset your system to a previous registry or Windows restore point directly from the Solutions menu by selecting Open Windows Restore Points or Open Registry Backup Tool.

Revive your drive

Drive Medic can find and repair data corruption that has accrued over time on your hard disk. Use it to help you avoid the potential data loss or system failure that can sometimes result from prolonged daily wear and tear.

Here’s how:

  1. Start System Mechanic and click Toolbox » Individual Tools » Repair Problems 
  2. Find Drive Medic and click the Start button next to Repair Hard Drive Problems
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions, using the Help button for further info as needed

    Note: Repair can take a while on larger hard drives. Although you can use your PC during the scan, a restart may be required if errors are found.
