Fast PC Boosts Home Office Efficiency

Performance is Productivity:
Why a Fast PC Boosts Home Office Efficiency

If you work from your home office, you are probably always looking for ways to get your work done faster. Whether it is to get more done in a day, or so you can spend that extra time with your family, in a home office environment, speed matters.

The Internet is chock full of tips and tricks for increasing productivity in a home office environment. Some websites suggest you should memorize keyboard shortcuts to navigate to new windows or copy and paste text. Others say you should install an extra monitor so you can work on two projects at once. Still others provide versatile extensions and plug-ins for your software that will help you save precious seconds throughout the day. But one solution that is not frequently addressed is how baseline PC performance can impact productivity.

If you’re a telecommuter, startup launcher, family-first freelancer or any other type of home worker who relies on a PC, you know you need to carefully plan your day, and PC troubles typically don’t fit into that schedule. Some of the lesser known time thieves include malware, registry errors and unnecessary files that cause overall PC performance to degrade. This can lead to programs freezing, computer crashes, a long startup process, or annoying pop-ups that interrupt work.

In fact, research indicates that a slow computer results in lower levels of productivity, according to Computing. While this seems like an obvious conclusion to draw, the issue actually goes beyond just the time lost dealing with (or not dealing with) a dysfunctional PC. Evidence suggests that PC performance issues can also be disruptive to our thinking process.

It takes about 20 milliseconds to trigger brain cells, so thought occurs before the conscious mind recognizes it, explained Computing. This means that someone in the middle of analyzing data or composing a sentence can lose track of information if interrupted. Once conscious thought and emotions break into focus, then it can be difficult to get back on track, especially in a home office environment where potential distractions abound. If these kinds of interruptions occur several times a day or even more frequently, then lost time can certainly add up.

If you work on a Windows computer, regular maintenance is required to prevent slowdown. Consider investing in System Mechanic, the #1-selling PC performance solution in the world. System Mechanic relies on over 16 years of in-house engineering research to develop ever-evolving solutions to built-in Windows flaws that can accumulate over time. These include: slow program access, slow boot time, bloatware, decreased web speed, registry errors, fragmented hard drive and more. In addition to regular automated maintenance actions, the software simultaneously fine-tunes processor and network settings and frees trapped RAM for maximum speed even after your PC is optimized.
